2020 - 2021

Communications Officer, Caribbean Protected Areas Gateway – Centre for Resource Management and Environmental Studies, University of the West Indies

I supported the regional communication needs of the Biodiversity and Protected Areas Management (BIOPAMA) programme and the Caribbean Protected Areas Gateway (CPAG) by:
 

  • Developing content (articles, press releases, multimedia features, videos, etc.).

  • Facilitating communication and promotion of the programme’s activities through the BIOPAMA, UWI CERMES and IUCN websites, newsletters and social media platforms.

  • Supporting the collection and development of success stories.

  • Providing communications support at relevant CPAG and BIOPAMA events and workshops.

  • Producing the quarterly BIOPAMA Caribbean newsletter.

  • Implementing the regional communications strategy and communications plan.

  • Coordinating and designing visibility materials (banners, brochures, videos).

2017 - 2018

Communications Manager, Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture (St. Vincent and the Grenadines)

Responsible for the management of the Communications Unit within the Ministry. 

Main operational responsibilities:

 

  • Supervising the public relations programme and tourism education sessions in schools at all education levels throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines. 

  • Hosting the weekly ‘Tourism Chit-Chat’ radio programme.

  • Production of television and radio commercials, the Ministry’s e-newsletter and supervising the Ministry’s presence on social media platforms. 

  • Facilitating school tours to tourism sites and protected areas as part of the tourism education drive.

  • Delivering presentations and lectures at schools, government agencies and to the private sector; speaking at symposiums.

  • Producing press releases; assisting in the development of informational pamphlets.

  • Public relations for the Ministry; ensuring the efficient and tactful handling of public requests and complaints.
